5/7/2024 - Ozmango Likes this wine: 92 pointsHmm. Screwcap. Different mix of the 5 noble grapes. Younger, softer, more refined the last night's 2005 monster. Medium weight plum red colour. Vanilla, tabbaco, dark berry nose. Soft blackberries, tannins start early and take over, though fine. Starting to become unbalanced. |

5/6/2024 - Ozmango Likes this wine: 93 pointsCork was good in this one, hardly used. Legs, Deep plum red, hints of age. Stewed plums. Cassis of dark berries, blackberries and raspberries come to mind. Tannins have softened to a fine white pepper. Excellent with a good red meat roast. |

12/29/2023 - Ozmango Likes this wine: 93 pointsUnder cork hardly used. Very different beast to the 2005. Slightly different blending of the 5 grape varieties also. Plumby nose. More refined. Lovely Cabernet dominant fruit with more restrained tannins. Classy. |

12/29/2023 - Ozmango Likes this wine: 92 pointsHalf cork extracted. Pushed rest into bottle. Very porty esters waft from the glass. Soft fruit once the wine settled. Tannins are now dominant and still drying. Not unpleasant. Lots of bottle variation. |

7/6/2023 - Ozmango Likes this wine: 95 pointsScrewcap. Oak, oak and more oak. Sums it up and holds it together. No the 2005 but damn close. Deep dark plum red. Juicy, succulent and little hint of it's 14.9%. Cleansing finish, refined tannins. Game and strong cheese with this one. |

11/2/2022 - Ozmango Likes this wine: 95 pointsTime to taste one as the weather has taken a turn and gone chilly again. Dense dark black red. Cigar box aromas. Lush intense berry fruit starting to integrate with the solid tannic backbone. Halliday says it should last till 2050. Whilst I concur at an academic level, I doubt my stock will get that far. |

9/4/2022 - Ozmango wrote: 93 pointsLook back at previous notes, my commentary is very dependent on the cork quality. This one had a excellent cork, hardly used. Plums, stewed. Some raspberry. Fruit now well integrated with oak. Fine tannins, very drying. Alcohol is evident. Still big after 17 years. |

6/16/2020 - Ozmango Likes this wine: 93 pointsAfter drinking the 2007 we opened the 2005. Under cork which was not as good as the 2007 one. Still did its job. Dark plum red, lying about it's age. Brandied plums meet the nose. More fruit driven than the 2007. More plums but stewed this time. More mouthfeel. Still good tannins. Succulent. One you can drink alone. |

6/16/2020 - Ozmango Likes this wine: 92 pointsUnder cork. Tight beguiling bouquet give little away. A changed percentage blend and a different vintage brings a more refined wine. Less fruit driven, more austere and yet charming in its middle palate. Good tannins. Good with beef. |

Soft succulent fruit with spice and pepper from the middle palate onwards. It leaves the mouth cleansed, but wanting more. Best bottle yet. Had with a full rack of pork ribs. Well matched. |

8/17/2018 - angelcyn Likes this wine: 94 pointsLovely wine, sent over in a case from Aus a few years back by a friend, plums blackberry chocolate lanolin, all nicely integrated and spot on acidity, would give many a premier cru class Bordeaux a run for their money, sadly only the one bottle. |

A black stained cork in perfect condition, the 1st sigh of relief followed closely by a 2nd when i was hit with a wall of fresh fruit...its alive! |

3/21/2017 - ohearsey Likes this wine: 88 pointsStill good tannin at the front and benefitted from decanting and then nice balance. I think this drinks well now and wouldn't be inclined to hold on to it for too long now if you like some fruit still there |

12/31/2015 - Ozmango Likes this wine: 90 pointsSurprisingly dull on the noise. Almost cooked. Big tannins. I would normally be enamored by this wine. However this bottle is not up to par. Strange as cork was fine Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (1) |
